Most people are still unaware of the existence of the American bulldog
and it has been treated like a "new" breed. In fact , The American
Bulldog was brought from England by working class immigrants to the
American South in the 1700's. Farmers and ranch workers used this
all-around working breed mostly as a catch dog and for property
protection. Although once
quite popular, by the end of World War II, the American Bulldog had
become almost extinct. Fortunately Alan Scott and a few other breeders
devoted to these dogs worked to recover the breed using careful
breeding techniques and record keeping to maintain both the physical
health and working abilities of the dogs.
Today there are two main types of the American Bulldog: the
Scott/Standard type and the Johnson/Bully type. We are proud to be
raising the Scott's type AB. The American Bulldog is physically a very
powerful and highly intelligent dog that can make a wonderful family
companion. These dogs also get along well with other family pets, as
long as they are properly socialized.
The temperament of our dogs is exactly what you would expect from an
American Bulldog they are brave and outgoing, are very good with
family and friends but are slow to welcome outsiders! They are eager to
protect home and family!
Our whole family takes part in raising and socializing our dogs and
puppies in our home, so you can be sure your puppy will be happy,
healthy, and well adjusted.
