* Blackstone suggests that you take your puppy to your vet within 48 hours of
leaving our property for a “well puppy” visit.  And we can not stress enough the
importance of keeping your puppy’s shots up to date.

* Puppies get a little stressed after leaving their Dam and litter mates and will need
time to adjust to their new homes and  families.  Small puppies should be offered
food at least 3 times a day.  If your puppy is not interested in their food we suggest
that you mix a small amount of canned wet food  into their dry food.
* All pups have been eating Diamond large breed puppy food*

* Please remember that you are now raising an American Bulldog and in order for
your dog to be truly happy, you need to provide them with something to chew on at
all times.  Among other reasons, chewing releases anxiety.  So, rather than your
home, furniture, or favorite pair of shoes, keep yourself and your new dog happy
with appropriate chew toys such as rawhide rolls, rope toys, and  kong rubber chew
toys.

* We strongly suggest owner and puppy training classes to further provide you with
the skills and knowledge necessary for a harmonious life long partnership between
you and your new best friend.

* We have found crate training works well for housebreaking .  However, you can not
leave your puppy in the crate for long periods of time.  There are many good books
available on the subject of housebreaking in book stores and on the web.

* Please remember not to let your American bulldog pup become overweight.  It is
critical to know what a healthy weight is for your pet as they develop very quickly in
the first year or so.  To avoid injury and complications due to rapid growth, consult
your vet as to what a healthy weight is for your pup as he / she grows.

********  If, for any reason, you are unable to care for  your dog please contact
Blackstone Kennels and we will help you find new placement.
